Man with concealed identity smoking a vapeBritish American Tobacco has funded a study showing that the vapor from an e-cigarette is not toxic to the lungs. Inhaling nicotine vapor proved to be as safe as the air you breath.

The study involved tobacco smoke, e-cigarette vapor and air being used on human lung cell models created by MatTek Corporation. The cells died after exposure to the tobacco smoke, but vapor from the e-cigarettes and breathing air produced the same results. This study showed that e-cigarettes cause tissue damage to the lungs.

There will be future studies on this subject and discussions will continue on as well. For now, it looks like e-cigarettes are proving to be the safe option if you are going to smoke.
